Your makeup is so important on your wedding day. As with your dress, hairpiece and shoes, it’s just one part to create an entire package. How you have your makeup is completely up to you – whether completely natural or glam, it’s importantly the it doesn’t mask ‘you’ – you simply want to look like you, at your absolute best. For ladies wanting a more glamorous look, I’ve written a few ideas on how I would create it to inspire you.
My glam go to’s
As with any look, it is always essential to start by creating a flawless complexion as your base. One of our favourites to get an even tonal coverage and to conceal any blemishes is Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation. With a semi-matte finish this fluid foundation minimises shine with its oil absorbing properties and is totally buildable, so you can start by applying a little for a more natural look and adding more for a more dramatic look.
After setting powder, I would add some incredible highlighter drops from Iconic – I can’t get enough of this at the moment! This adds a ‘lit-from-within’ healthy glow, across your cheekbones, cupid’s bow and down the centre of your nose.
Next, we’ll move onto your eyes. Using an eye primer will always help maintain your eye makeup for longer periods of time preventing eyeshadow creasing. Elf’s Shadow Lock Eyelid Primer refines and visibly smooth the skin texture. I wouldn’t be without this; it’s perfect for weddings and all day events when make-up needs to stay put all day!
Opting for a light eyeshadow for full eyelid coverage up to the brow bone, we’d build and blend in darker tones nearer to the lash line and in the crease. For an extra glam look, we’d add a touch of sparkle along your upper lash line! The Kat Von D Shade+Light Palette is perfect for getting this look right.
Adding a volumising mascara to the top and bottom lashes, building up the intensity with the number of coats applied will really set off the glam look. Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara is absolutely amazing for a dramatic look.
Finally onto the lips! To get a clean full lip effect always start with a lip pencil. Tarte have an amazing range of liners and pencils, perfect for long-wear and a dramatic look. There’s one for every skin tone.
